Fanes Cottage

From British Listed Buildings

C17-C18 timber-framed and plastered, with some exposed timber-framing. Roof thatched, half hipped at the north and south ends. One storey and attics. Three “eyebrow” dormers on the east front. One ridge and one end external chimney stack. Renovated. Modern casements. On the west side there is a modern 2 storey addition with tiled roof.

The house is probably named for Robert George Cecil Fane, who married into the Harvey family and owned much of the land around Wincelow Hall Road in the 1840s.
