The Ring of Trees

Also known as ‘Turpin’s Ring’, Hempstead’s Ring of Trees sits on raised ground at the foot of Church Hill, opposite the pump. Nobody knows its age or what the ring was used for, although one theory has it as a venue for cock fighting.

But this wasn’t the first time. The Parish Meeting in 1960 was chaired by Sir George Bolton, Executive Director of the Bank of England and the International Monetary Fund.
