Drapers

Drapers, next to the Bluebell, is now a private house but was previously the village general stores and post office. Before that, Margaret Drane remembers the shop during the Second World War as being run by an elderly lady, Mrs Felgate: it carried some drapery items and a very limited range of ‘odds and ends’. Some time around 1960, the post office transferred here from across the road. More detail of this can be found in the Shops section of this site.

In the Voices section there are accounts of running the shop from Chris Bampton and her daughter Sarah Louise, and from Richard and Angela Crane.
