Barrie Moss has been described as a ‘big, bumptious sort of man’. Margaret Nairn remembers doing the church flowers in the vestry, one windy day in November. At the time, the vestry floor had a hole in it through which you could see into the vault with its coffins, but the floor was covered with a carpet.. A sudden gust of wind lifted the carpet, which threw Margaret into a panic, and she turned round so see the figure of Barrie Moss standing at the door. “He was dressed in jeans, he didn’t look like a vicar at all. I nearly fainted”. But he was well liked. He war married with two children.
